Read this only in the circumstance that I'm not here. I'll assume that's the case. It would be harder to uncover this if I'm here to stop you.
For months, I accepted that I wouldn't be here forever. In my heart, I was glad for this. It meant that challenging the world awaited me back home. I didn't think there could be a world as cold as this one. I could look forward to the day I was no longer in it. Better things are ahead for me. I never let myself forget that.
However, there are some things that make me hesitate about this now.
To those I leave behind, I'm sorry. I wish I could say I'd never forget you. But we both know that isn't true. So... I suppose this would be a true goodbye.
Just because I won't remember doesn't mean you aren't important to me. It doesn't mean that, if I had the option, I would want to forget. These memories are precious to me not because of the place, but the people who were here with me.
I'm no stranger to losing people. I know how it must feel. Do your best anyway. In spirit I'll be rooting for you. One day, none of this will matter to any of us, but there are those trapped here to whom this will always be a reality. Even if it feels meaningless, do your best for their sake. Work to make this world one worth living in..
